There are lots of varieties of avocados. Even hundreds of them. Many people have no idea, which is not surprising since avocados grow mainly in warmer regions such as Central and South America, Africa, but also in Spain! Like here on our land in sunny Oliva on the Valencian coast.
We list the most popular avocados for you below:
- Hass & Lamb Hass
The Lamb Hass avocado is the avocado variety that we also sell through our avocado gift package. The trees you adopt from us through avocadoption, are also the trees that give the Lamb Hass avocado variety. This avocado is a tad bigger than its namesake, the Hass avocado.
The (Lamb) Hass avocado is the most familiar variety and has a nutty/buttery flavour. The outside of the avocado has a somewhat ridged, rough skin and a dark green colour. As it matures, the avocado colours darker towards black. - Bacon
The Bacon avocado is oval and has a somewhat smoother, dark green skin with some yellow speckles. The flavour of this variety is a little less oily than the Hass avocado. - Fuerte
The Fuerte avocado has a nutty flavour, as does the Hass avocado. However, the flavour of the Fuerte avocado is a bit stronger and more oily. The shape of the Fuerte avocado is elongated and pear-shaped. This avocado has a smooth, green skin. - Pinkerton
The Pinkerton avocado is a bit creamier and is very tasty in a salad or with a dish. This avocado has an elongated pear shape, which makes the stone a bit more oval and smaller than for example the Hass avocado. The Pinkerton has a thick green skin that detaches very easily. - Ettinger
The Ettinger avocado is greener and usually has a large seed. This is a very popular avocado with a slightly milder flavour.
