Have you been nice and busy growing an avocado tree from a kernel, you are told that it may take quite some time for the tree to produce fruit. If it survives at all in northern European climates!
Therefore, we bought small mini-avocado trees already cultivated for our land in Spain. These little trees already had a small head start and stood firmly in the ground right away. After about 2 years, our trees started producing avocados. The bigger the trees grow, the more avocados we expect each year.
But it could also just take longer before you see avocados growing on your tree. The exact time can vary depending on several factors, including growing conditions and the type of avocado tree you have.
It takes about 2 to 4 years
In general, you can expect an avocado tree to begin flowering and producing fruit sometime between 2 and 4 years after planting. But this may take longer if the tree is exposed to unfavorable growing conditions, such as insufficient sunlight, poor soil quality or insufficient water. Also keep in mind that some varieties of avocado trees may take longer to produce fruit than others.
