The mower y mujer de campo fuerte!

What a team, if we do say so ourselves… ;)

We at Avocadoptie (farmer Nono and farmer Beksie), take care of our avocado trees with love and we do it together.

Currently, our avocado orchard has 65 trees. We planted these trees ourselves over the past four years. We started four years ago by preparing the first piece of land to plant some 20 baby avocado trees of the Hass and Bacon avocado varieties. The following two years we did the same with two more pieces of land. The three- and four-year-old trees are already giving plenty of fruit that we and you will enjoy from December to March.

Throughout the year, our avocado trees and soil regularly need a little something to stay healthy and trigger good fruit production. Think proper watering and fertilisation. Harvesting, pruning, mowing and slagging the trees are also part of our job. Quite a busy 'hobby' farming existence alongside our working lives, both as self-employed workers (autónomos).

That we work together as a team in our farming life is obvious. Last week, for instance, farmer Nono as 'the Mowing Master' again freed the trees from (too) high-growing weeds. Because we don't do that with chemical pesticides. And did farmer Beksie ('Mujer de campo fuerte' as our neighbour Paco says), apply manure to the leaves of every tree.
